Meet the Writer: Hacker Noon's Contributor AJ Picard, founder of Clava

AJ Picard is currently building a new Creator app called Clava with the help of two other people, Jon Agustin & Trishant Bhatija. He has a lot of personal interests, like basketball, learning, design & reading news on my favorite companies/brands (Apple, Tesla, OvO) I love when I can take 1-2 hours on the weekend and just learn something about design, coding, or no coding. I just get some coffee, put my airpods on, throw on some drake and start typing.

Currently building Clava, which allows you to go Live and make money per minute off of the viewers in your Live!

This story is a part of Hacker Noon's Meet the Writer series of interviews. The series is intended for tech professionals contributing the most insightful Hacker Noon stories to share more about their writing habits, ideas, and professional background (and maybe a hobby or two).

If you too would like to start contributing to Hacker Noon, you can do so here.

So let’s start! Tell us a bit about yourself. For example, name, profession, and personal interests.

My name is AJ Picard, I’m currently building a new Creator app called Clava with the help of two other people, Jon Agustin & Trishant Bhatija who should get credit for Clava’s success to date. I have a lot of personal interests, like basketball, learning, design, & reading news on my favorite companies/brands (Apple, Tesla, OvO).

Interesting! What was your latest Hackernoon Top story about?

I wrote about Clava and our traction to date.

AJ’s startup was actually nominated as a Startup of the year, which we talked about here.

Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?

To be honest I don’t write much, if anything I’ll create Youtube videos over writing any day.

Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)

I just get some coffee, put my airpods on, throw on some drake and start typing.

Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?

Writing takes forever and I’m terrible with grammar.

What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?

My next achievement will be with both Jon & Trish, building Clava until it becomes the biggest Creator platform in the market.

Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?

To be honest, I love when I can take 1-2 hours on the weekend and just learn something about design, coding, or no coding.

Do you have a non-tech-related hobby? If yes, what is it?

Of course, playing Basketball. I play almost everyday and I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t. It’s a release for me and helps relieve the stress in my daily life.

What can the Hacker Noon community expect to read from you next?

Update about Clava and how we continue to help Creators make money through our Live Streams that pay Creators per minute from the Viewers in their Live.

Thanks for taking time to join our “Meet the writer” series. It was a pleasure. Do you have any closing words?

I want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, but what I would love the most is for you to support myself, Jon & Trish by referring Creators to Clava. If you know a Creator that would be perfect for Clava, please ping us at [email protected]
