The Snapchat Birthdays Mini Makes Celebrating With Friends More Fun

Snapchat tells you when a friend's birthday is. You just need to open your friend's list on their birthday and see the special emoji next to their name, right?

While this was how the app handled birthdays until recently, Snap has rolled out a whole mini, just for birthdays, that you can access at any time of the year.

What Is the Snapchat Birthdays Mini?

Snap has rolled out an all-new Mini just for birthdays. In case you're new to Snapchat or just don't use it that much, Minis are internal apps within the Snapchat app.

If you see the rocket icon on the chat page, you can access the Birthdays Mini (and other minis) that way.

If this feature isn't available to you yet for whatever reason, you can still find the Birthdays Mini by searching "birthdays" in the Snapchat Search Bar.

And—friendly reminder—you only need to search it once for the icon to appear in your recent searches, making it even easier to find next time.

How to Use the Birthdays Mini

The Birthdays Mini has two pages. The main page, labeled Birthdays, is divided into three main tools.

First, two helpful buttons show you whether any of your friends have birthdays coming up or whether any of your friends have recently had a birthday.

Below that, you can see the birthdays of all of your friends and whether their birthday is coming up or not.

Finally, a large countdown clock tells you exactly how long it is until your own birthday.

At the top of the page, you can select Zodiac Signs to view the second page of the Birthdays Mini. This page organizes your friend's birthdays by which sign of the Greek Zodiac they were born under.

The dates associated with each sign are along the right side of the page, and your friends' birthdays are located under their names.

When it is time to celebrate a birthday, you and your friends can access a special birthday lens and stickers so that you can all celebrate together.

What the Birthdays Mini Doesn't Know

The Birthdays Mini is pretty handy in terms of organizing the information that it displays. However, it doesn't tell you everything.

It can tell you the dates of your friends' birthdays, but it doesn't tell you the year that they were born or how old they are.

Furthermore, Snapchat users are only shown in the Birthdays Mini if they have their birthdate publicly available. However, this may not be something you want to do if your aim is to make your Snapchat account more private.

Is a Friend a Friend if They Don't Snap?

Snapchat has added yet another useful tool in their most social of apps.

We can find our friends, quantify our relationships through streaks, and now we never need to forget a birthday again.
