My Collective compositions

Intro

Hello friends, hope you are all well. So, I’m back with another story for you guys. If you have read my previous story you will already be familiar with ‘Little’. So, exploring his way into the design, Little arrived at the city of frames. Walking down the street, he saw figures over ground arranged in rectangle boundaries, under his feet, over the walls, on the signboard, any surface he could see was filled with a variety of these frames. One got his focus, the random figures in a common region, gave a closure of person.

He stood astonished, then he noticed a similarity, the figures in every frame were pointing in a specific direction,leading to the common fate, Little followed. He stopped when the continuity broke, he reached the last frame hanging on a huge orange wall, a blank frame. As he got in the proximity of that old frame he was sucked into it. Now he became a bunch of figures arranged in a frame — Composition.

Don’t worry! I will get him out of there, till that time let’s dive into the ocean; Frames and Composition.

According to Collins English Dictionary-

When you talk about the composition of something, you are referring to the way in which its various parts are put together and arranged.

In my own terms, in line with my learnings -

Arrangement of elements in a certain way, to hack perception

Gestalt Principles

• Common region
• Similarity
• Prägnanz (good form)
• Proximity
• Continuity
• Closure

I will cover these principles in depth in another article. This article is more about my work and findings. Hop on, we are going to see some of my compositions completed both in Figma and on paper.

1. Full Moon

Have you ever seen a full moon on a clear night? Ya! I know it’s beautiful and soothing.

It is strange that various wonderful moments just go by and people remain ignorant of it all.

I have used shapes and lines to indicate buildings and a moon. Imagine standing on the rooftop while you see it again, does it send you in that zone? a chilly night with silence. Take some time to enjoy this beauty of nature provided to you, totally free.

This composition comes out to be a night scene with the full moon as its focus.

2. Broken link

Being busy in all the chaos of life do you ever feel that some part of it has been lost in the time?

The best friend of your childhood, the one to whom you talk no more.

The hobby, that was your passion once, lost somewhere in your path.

People you loved, dreams you saw are the focus of this composition ‘broken Links’.

I will suggest you take some time out of this chaos for those broken links, and you will feel, a kind of good.

3. Abandoned

The abandoned house in nowhere, are you curious to look what’s inside?

Or, are you scared of a creepy sensation in the air?

This one I will leave for you to interpret, this composition is one of my favorite.

I like the way lines came together to reflect a path that bends and branches of a tree entering the frame from the right.

I have chosen red for the window to add to the feeling of cautiousness, danger, fear, and eerie.

4. Lurking in the Dark

The one that lurks in the dark, the evil, watching us all the time, waiting to engulf us all, one by one.

There is an eye(the one in red) indicating a watch on us with an intent to harm.

The evil is no other than our dark side, we all have it within us, trying to manipulate, to take control, to cheat its way out.

A constant fight with a hidden enemy.

I have used dark red to bring out the intense feelings of hunger, caution, power, and evil.

So, friends, be conscious of your actions. Beat the evil.

5. Orphan

This piece explores the mind of an orphan kid (one in the green).

He is looking at the parents that came to take their children from school (figures in the yellow are representing parents with their kids).

There is a sense of craving, melancholy, and envy in the scene.

I have chosen dark green to indicate a feeling of jealousy and yellow for happiness and joy.

We all should respect our parents and be grateful for having them in our life.

1. Acceptance and growth

This composition depicts acceptance in one of the best ways.

there are various differences (size, color, shape) in the figures in this frame and yet we perceive them as one entity.

When we as humans put our differences like race, gender, cultural backgrounds, etc out of the scene and come together for the growth of humanity as a whole then we can cover any gap that restricts our goal same as these figures did, just before reaching theirs. So, help each other out, show love and empathy in place of hatred. The world will become a beautiful place to live.

2. Duality

Our whole universe works on duality- day and night, introvert and extrovert, masculine and feminine…

You may have seen the famous yin and yang mark representing duality, you can see this as my version of the same.

I have used a circle and triangles so to include sharp and smooth too in support of the color duality.

Now, nothing is pure, it will include both sides of duality present in nature in one or another proportion, our focus should be on balancing the both.

3. Tilting the frame

This frame is been tilted with respect to the elements residing inside it and now they are falling, sliding, resting to the right of the frame.

can you feel the tilt? Everything, out of balance. Yup! that’s what I am talking about.

4. Leap of Faith

There are times when we are not sure, the vision is blurry could not figure out the exact outcome.

In such times, firstly we should evaluate the importance of that path if it is crucial for our growth then we should definitely take a ‘leap of faith’ without second thoughts.

In this frame, we can easily figure out a platform and some shapes jumping off it into the unknown. That is the soul of this piece.

5. Voyage beyond

This composition was made using paper and a black sketch pen.

It represents exploration, a journey, a vast ocean of possibilities, for those who have the courage to step out of their comfort zones and start the fresh voyage.

Here the ocean indicates challenges, and the moon represents dreams to follow.

We all should take life as a journey with both challenges and opportunities, and navigate our way through it, living every moment of it, facing every odd and embracing every gift discovered.
