Published 9 hours ago
With just a few steps, you can add either Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to the great smart speaker.
The Sonos One is a great all-around speaker for music, and it's even more useful when you enable its convenient voice control features. With Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, you can control smart home devices, ask for the weather, or request music with just your voice.
Here's how to set up and start using voice control on your Sonos One.
Voice Control Options on Sonos One
The Sonos One comes with two options for built-in voice control: Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
If you already use one of these services, you can easily integrate your Sonos One into the system. If not, you can choose whichever you'd like to try and switch later if necessary.
However, although the Sonos One offers both voice control options, you can only enable one at a time.
A Voice Control Button
On top of the Sonos One is a capacitive button with a microphone symbol. Tap this to quickly enable and disable the voice control microphone.
Voice Control With Sonos Speaker Groups and Rooms
Google Assistant is only active on one device in a stereo pair.
However, you can have both devices listen for Alexa voice control prompts. When you use voice control and both speakers' microphones are active, the response will come from the device that's closer to you.
