Miera iela (Peace Street) is a quiet, cobblestoned street in Riga, Latvia that inspires contemplation and creativity. If you’re strolling on a sunny spring day in this hip, laid-back Riga neighborhood, and you pass the Kafejnica Loja, you might see designers Krists Darzins and Marcis Lokis of Studio Family having a coffee while they discuss how to improve perfection, as perfectionists tend to do. Their projects are obsessively thought out, as they want to make sure that fellow-perfectionists have somewhere to go for futuristic mockups, graphics, posters, 3D moving images, and fonts. The two designers ensure every detail is “pixel-perfect.” That’s instantly obvious across their many endeavors. Yet they recognize that experience isn’t linear, and go out of their way to tackle outside projects and work with new people to learn things and challenge themselves. This discipline and drive translate into creative, functional products that define high standards.

Their Distortion Collection 03 is perhaps a rebellion against perfectionism itself, as this set of 12 different distortion effects is meant to smear, bend, and break.
