魁北克省新提议的立法可能会促进本地语译入加拿大法语的翻译需求。
负责语言事务的部长 Simon Jolin-Barrette 于2021年5月12日在国民议会提出第96号法案，即 "关于魁北克官方语言和共同语言法语的法案"（An Act Respecting French, the Official and Common Language of Québec），旨在确认法语是加拿大该省唯一的官方语言，并且是 "魁北克民族的共同语言"。
96号法案是人们期待已久的对1977年通过的《法语宪章》（Charter of the French Language）（又称101号法案）的改革。如获通过，长达100页的96号法案将把《法语宪章》纳入加拿大宪法。
