I have been working from home for the past decade, mainly writing and creating content for online clients. However, I have always wanted to boost my earnings and add extra income streams to my existing writing income.

A few months ago, I stumbled across a piece of content that pushed me to start exploring new ways of making money online. I had tried affiliate marketing and a few other ventures but with no real guidance and practical help, I found it really difficult to start earning decent money.

When the pandemic hit, some of my clients just disappeared and stopped making payments, this caused me a whole lot of anxiety and stress. I decided to try a new income stream, the only thing that I was lacking was a mentor that could help me to take my ideas from concept to reality or some kind of course that would provide me with the knowledge that I needed to make more money online.

Note: There is nothing wrong with wanting to boost your income, don’t feel ashamed. Often, friends or family might make you feel like you are making the wrong decision by trying to build extra income streams, you are certainly not. The pandemic has proved that extra income streams are a must. Anyway, here are some of the things that I did to start earning some extra money from home.

I tried a few things but the two that were the most effective were creating an online store and courses.

Online store

I signed up to Shopify to sell planners and notebooks that I designed and printed myself. I also had some items that were print on demand using RedBubble and TeeSpring. I actually had no idea what I was doing but I signed up to learn more about making money online with an online workshop that teaches you how to make a full-time or part-time income from home.

How do I promote my online store?

The most profitable platform for marketing my products is, Pinterest. I batch create my pins and post eight pins per day about productivity, working from home and manifestation. I link my store in each post.

I also utilize TikTok by creating, fun and engaging content, I keep my store link in my TikTok bio.

Creating Courses

I have created one course, which was a quick course on how to make money sharing YouTube videos. The course ran for six weeks, and now I am creating a more in-depth version of the course for Skillshare and another one for my mailing list members.

I promote my courses using:

  • Pinterest
  • Article marketing
  • Blogging
  • TikTok
  • Instagram
  • Facebook

If you are new to making money online, you might need some help. Sometimes reading articles and watching YouTube videos just isn’t enough. Signing up for a course or for mentorship is an effective way of learning the core skills that will help you to start making decent money online.

I currently earn an extra $3000 per month, I did get some help, I signed up for a free workshop here>>>learn to make money from your kitchen table and it was really helpful and value-packed.

I definitely recommend either signing up for a course/workshop or getting a mentor that can provide you with the key steps that you need to take to build a profitable online business or side hustle.

To sum it all up

  • Decide what you want to do
  • Learn about it by either signing up for a course/workshop or get a mentor (You can learn on your own but you accelerate the process by learning from an expert)
  • You write out your plan based on what you have learned
  • You take action by writing down your three most important tasks every day and act on them.

I learned a few really crucial tips about online business here at this free digital business workshop.
