How to Forward a Text on iPhone

Whether you're passing on information or sharing incriminating texts in a group conversation, you're likely to need to forward a text message on your iPhone at one point or another.

Here's how to do it.

What Is Text Forwarding?

Text forwarding is when you forward a text from your phone to another number. It's exactly the same as forwarding an email: you're just sending the text from your iPhone to somebody else for them to see.

Despite sounding like an advanced task, forwarding texts is really easy to do. You may have seen our tutorial on how to forward a text on Android. Well, it's pretty much the same process as that on iPhone.

You might not have heard of text forwarding before because you can just copy and paste or screenshot a message. However, forwarding texts is a quicker and easier way to share a text with a friend, straight from the Messages app on your iPhone.

How to Forward a Text Message on iPhone

In order to forward a text from your iPhone, there are a few obvious things that you're going to need. You'll need your iPhone, a cellular signal, a text to forward, and someone to forward the text to.

The process is exactly the same for both SMS texts and iMessages on an iPhone.

Firstly you'll need to open the Messages app on your iPhone. Once in the app, select the conversation you'll be forwarding a text from; all your conversations appear on the list on the main screen of the app.

Now, you need to find the text you're going to forward in the chat. Just scroll up or down until you find the relevant text in your chat history. Once you've found the text you want to forward, long press on the text until you see the More button appear.

Note: If there are any dates, numbers, or contact information that are underlined, don't long press on that part of the text. Doing so would bring up a menu for that information, such as the Add to Calendar option, which you aren't looking for.

Tap on the More button. You'll now see a blue forwarding arrow in the bottom right corner of your iPhone. Tap on the arrow to forward that text.

A new window will appear for you to enter the name or number of a sender, just like when you start a new conversation in Messages. Enter the name or number of the contact you'll be forwarding the text to.

Once you've done this, you can edit the text if you'd like. And when you're ready, tap the Send button to send the message to your recipient.

Now that you're able to forward texts, you've should have gained a little more familiarity with the Messages app. You can now send important information to your contacts quicker than ever.
