WatchGuard regional director for Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands Anthony Daniel
Auckland-headquartered Soft Solutions has introduced pay-as-you-go subscriptions for WatchGuard firewalls in New Zealand.
Soft Solutions has been working with WatchGuard Technologies since 2019, and is the first distributor in New Zealand to offer WatchGuard's pay-as-you-go subscription billing.
This zero-upfront subscription model means customers – including managed security service providers – can scale their WatchGuard services up or down as required.
"The concept of monthly billing for software has been with us for a few years but for hardware it's been a different story," said Soft Solutions managing director Chris Fitzgerald.
"More and more enterprises today need flexibility in their technology infrastructure and COVID only accelerated this trend with companies having to provide security for a distributed workforce and handle rapid fluctuations in the number of staff working remotely.
"Businesses simply don't want to be locked into long-term infrastructure and the new pay-as-you go service from WatchGuard supports customers in an uncertain business environment and removes risk for resellers who can now offer a flexible billing structure."
The subscription model also provides a way for resellers to address the needs of customers who already have firewalls and are interested in WatchGuard's new software offerings.
"It's truly innovative and simplifies security delivery and we're delighted to provide this to our resellers and their customers," said Fitzgerald.
WatchGuard is a 100% channel-focused company.
