(Great Question)[https://greatquestion.co] is a customer research platform that makes it easy to do research with your own customers - whether it’s customer interviews, surveys or prototype tests - and share what you learn with your team.

Founded by serial entrepreneurs, we’re backed by Y Combinator and on a mission to democratize research.

We launched our beta in February 2021 with a bang - customers like Adidas Runtastic, Linktree & MainStreet all use and love our product.

About the role

Great Question is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale their research platform. We need a strong engineer with Ruby on Rails experience, who can ship core pieces of our infrastructure and own critical projects.

As an early stage startup, we move fast. We deploy code daily, we talk to our customers regularly, and we integrate their feedback quickly.

You will be the second engineering hire, joining a team of three. With that in mind, you’ll be expected to wear many hats, and will play a pivotal role in growing our team and engineering culture.

  • Typescript / JS / React / Tailwind / ProseMirror
  • Heroku / S3
  • Stripe / Segment / Mixpanel / Vero / Alogolia / Datadog

Our team

We are a small team of passionate, experienced craftspeople who love building software that delights. We focus of delivering impact, obsess over customer feedback and rely on product analytics. We care about the software we build. We are fully remote, and have been since inception.

About you

  • 4+ years Ruby on Rails experience.
  • Highly proficient backend skills including automated testing, database design, performance
  • Experience designing performant REST APIs
  • Willing to take ownership over projects and deliver end to end.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, agile startup environment.
  • Thrives remotely. Self starter. Great communicator.
  • Able to work significant overlap with PST hours

Nice to haves:

  • Experience building out privacy, security, and enterprise SaaS features
  • Affinity towards design, UX, and UX Research
  • Some experience with React + Typescript
  • Leadership experience at early stage startups

What you will be doing

  • Build and maintain integrations with multiple partner APIs ( Zapier, G Suite, Slack, Salesforce, Zoom)
  • Rearchitect & improve privacy solutions for customer PII
  • Performance tuning of API endpoints and processes.
  • Manage production infrastructure, monitoring, logging etc.
  • Assess and implementing open source and third party vendor solutions.
  • Improve test coverage, build out QA processes.
