The app will continue to be offered on iPhone and Android

Microsoft is getting ready to kill off the Translator app for Windows 10, as the company originally announced that the download links would be removed on April 8.

In other words, if you haven’t downloaded the app already, you should it right now, as Microsoft is expected to pull it from the Microsoft Store any minute now.

Microsoft’s Translator app will continue to be offered on iPhone and Android, and of course, the translation service is also available on the web, but as far as Windows 10 is concerned, the software giant sees little reason to continue focusing on this app.

Translator app to survive on iPhone and Android

If the Translator app is already installed on your Windows 10 device, it won’t be removed as part of this end of support announcement. But on the other hand, it would no longer receive any improvements and updates, so you can continue to use it as long as you want without any new features.

“The Microsoft Translator app for Windows desktop will no longer be available for download, beginning April 8, 2021. If you have already downloaded the desktop app, it will continue to work however technical support and updates to the service will no longer be provided. This does not affect any other translation features in Microsoft products that use the Microsoft Translator service,” Microsoft explains.

Of course, given translation options are already bundled with other Microsoft apps, the dedicated Translator app is unlikely to be missed, and this is probably one of the reasons the software giant also decided to give up on it in the first place.

In the meantime, if you want to translate something fast and easy, the most convenient way to do is to just rely on Microsoft Edge for the whole thing, so the tool is still just a few clicks away from your desktop.
