The role of NoCode Developer

Main requirements for the upcoming NoCode Developer job title

“At its core, the no code movement is just an evolution of core principles that has driven technological innovation for millennia: namely, the desire to democratize and scale processes, tools, and access to mediums which were formerly available only to a small set of people — and through that democratization, multiply the potential of what humankind can create.”

The no code revolution — Webflow ebook

I have been diving into this new job position called ‘NoCode Programmer’ and found several job posts with it. Here is an example of what they ask for:

What you will do:

  • Design and develop new applications with no-code tools (Bubble, Webflow)
  • Create and test functional prototypes to reach the best possible customer experience
  • Structure the back-end of our application
  • Conceptualize the tech architecture
  • Find creative ways to automate our processes (Integromat, Airtable)
  • Participate in the constant improvement of the processes to become more efficient
  • Keep an eye on the best no-code / low code tools to implement for developing new functionalities

Job requirements

Prerequisites we’d like you to have:

  • You have a mindset of a warrior and you want to push back the borders
  • You are convinced that no-code is the future of coding
  • You have a solid knowledge of no-code tools and how to use them
  • You have previous experience in building no-code applications
  • You also have skills in UX/UI design
  • You are independent, but you like working in a team
  • You are a quick learner

Sometimes I have seen other naming such as Visual Developer (webflow uses it), do not confuse with UI Developer, that is usually for React coding.

The NoCode Movement

“With the lowered barrier to entry these tools represent, marketers and makers
can ditch the dependencies and get something out into the
wild that one precious day, week, or month earlier — and start
gathering feedback, iterating, and learning faster”.

So, as you see in the job requirements, you don´t need a deep knowledge. I like one thing about NoCode it is that this is about doing things with different tools. It does not matter whether you come from UX, from coding or marketing, everyone can be a NoCoder, there is no entrance barrier. Just learn, play and do things. NoCode is about mix and about doing things.

The NoCode Stack

“It’s easier than ever to build software. Now, in just a few hours, you can create something that used to take specialized skills and countless days. This is all because of the “no code” tools that let you do so much without writing a single line of code.” — Hiten Shah

How do you get into NoCode? It is simple, there is a lot of information right now, pick a tool, learn it, play and do something. Then pick another and another and go on.

Finally you will have what they call a NoCode Stack, it is your bunch of tools that you mostly use. For example you can use Airtable for your data base, Webflow for the UI, Zapier or Integromat for integrations, Memberstack for your login, etc. With this idea there are several sites where you can find what NoCode Stack you need to do an digital product, such are NoCodeStacks, WeLoveNoCode or SideProjectStack.
