Microsoft Rolls Out Windows 10 Notification Support for Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a service whose usage skyrocketed last year for obvious reasons, with more than 115 million daily active users connecting to the service, according to the latest stats.

The Redmond-based software giant has promised to release several important new features for Microsoft Teams, and one of them is support for Windows 10 notifications.

In other words, Microsoft Teams would feature native Windows 10 notifications, and the feature has been in testing since December.

But according to OnMSFT, Microsoft has now started the public rollout of Windows 10 notifications in Microsoft Teams, though right now, it appears the whole thing is happening gradually for users across the world.

On my device, on the other hand, the native Windows 10 notifications aren’t yet live.

In case you’re wondering why this update is so big news for Microsoft Teams users, it’s because the native Windows 10 notifications that only that blend better in the operating system, but they also work with other OS features, such as Focus Assist. So in theory, they can be automatically switched to silent when users enable Focus Assist, something which right now isn’t possible with the existing notification system.

As per the cited source, Microsoft also wants to bring native macOS notifications to Microsoft Teams, but for the time being, the only thing we know is that the feature is projected to land later this month.

If you want to check if the new notifications are live on your device, just open Microsoft Teams and head over to the settings screen by clicking on your profile picture. In the notifications section, looking for the Notification style dropdown, and if the feature is already available, you should see an option called Windows which when enabled activates the native notification support.
