Microsoft Planning “What’s Next” Event at Build, Gaming to Get Some Love Too

Microsoft has sort of confirmed that this year’s Build developer conference, its largest annual show, would take place between May 25-27, and once again, the whole thing would happen online because of obvious reasons.

And while the full agenda of the show is yet to be shared, Microsoft watcher Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet writes that the software giant is also planning a series of “What’s Next” mini events that would allow us to get a glimpse into what’s being planned on several fronts.

And unsurprisingly, gaming is going to get some love too, though right now, it’s not yet known what Microsoft could unveil as part of such a dedicated event.

But of course, we shouldn’t expect any hardware news or game unveilings. Most likely, Microsoft will discuss improvements coming to the gaming experience in terms of software and services, and there’s a chance the cloud plans would be further detailed during this mini event.

What’s next for Windows maybe?

Most likely, Microsoft will also hold a What’s next for Windows? event that will provide us with an early look into the improvements that the company is planning for the operating system.

One key focus could be the upcoming Windows 10 21H2 feature update, which is expected to introduce major improvements on several fronts, including in terms of features and UI.

At this point, however, Microsoft is finalizing another feature update called Windows 10 version 21H1, which this time will come with only small improvements under the hood. Version 21H1 will land as a quality update and will be shipped to production devices starting in May, with insiders to receive the RTM build in the coming weeks ahead of everybody else.
