AirPods wireless earbuds are small, easy to misplace and expensive to replace. We'll show you an Apple app that can help find it.

The Lede

If you ever lose an AirPod, you can use the Find My app on iPhones, Macs and iPads to locate it. Make sure you activate the "Find My" function on your devices before you lose your AirPods, as this trick won't work if you don't switch on the feature beforehand.

Key Details

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone and tap on your name and then "Find My." After you enable "Find My iPhone," your AirPods should be automatically added to the Find My app.
  • If you have trouble locating your AirPods, access Find My and click "Play Sound." Loud sounds will then play from your AirPods to help you locate them.
  • This trick only works if your AirPods are still charged and close enough to your iPhone. It also won't work if your AirPods are in their case, unless you have AirPods Max.
