The latest version of the Vivaldi web browser opens tabs twice as fast, and windows 26 percent faster, than the previous version. There’s also a native version for M1-based Macs.

“Work or play, most of us are living in a browser today,” Vivaldi co-founder and CEO Jon von Tetzchner writes. “We rely on the browser to create connections and get our work done. But it can get frustrating if the browser, its tabs, or windows take a wee bit longer to open.”

Vivaldi 3.7, the latest desktop version of this browser, helps in this regard with big performance gains in common operations. And, on the Mac, via native M1 support. The new version also includes periodic reload in web panels, simpler tab decluttering, a configurable web page menu, more dynamic quick commands, and silent updating on Windows.

“How did we make Vivaldi faster?” von Tetzchner asks. “We simply prioritized performance in our to-do list.”

Vivaldi also upgraded its mobile web browser on Android to version 3.7, adding a new tile-based bookmark manager and a new Welcome to Vivaldi first-run experience that will help you set up some of the browser’s unique features.
