SEEPROM failure during system boot

Answer ID 14184   |    Published 10/10/2005 09:00 AM   |    Updated 10/01/2011 09:05 PM
During system boot the following messages appear:
39320A A at Slot 01, 05:00:00 – SEEPROM failure, now using defaults.
39320A A at Slot 01, 05:00:00 – SCSI controller configuration error: 01

This information applies to the following Operating System(s):
- This information is not Operating System specific
This problem seems to be limited to the Intel 95X Desktop series and the Intel SE7525GP2 motherboards.

Adaptec has been working with Intel to root cause a system resource conflict which occurs when the Adaptec 39320x and certain PCI-Express video cards are installed in the same system.

The following video cards are affected:

- ATI X600 PRO with 256MB RAM PCI-Express
- ATI FireGL PCI-Express Series video cards
- NVIDIA Quadro FX3400
- NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GTX

This appears to be a system related resource issue and there are system BIOS updates available from Intel that resolve this issue.

One other workaround is to use a non-PCI Express video card.

When this error appears, the Adaptec SCSI BIOS will still function as normal. The only exception is that you will not be able to customize and save the SCSISelect settings for devices connected to Channel A.
