How to Forward a Text on Android

If you want to forward a text to someone from your Android device, you don't need to type it out or copy and paste. Instead, you can use the forwarding function.

The process is slightly different depending on which messaging app you use. That said, the steps are simple and roughly the same.

We're going to show you how to forward an SMS text message on the stock Android Messages app and the Samsung equivalent.

How to Forward a Text on Android (Stock)

1. In the stock Android Messages app, open the text conversation that contains the message you want to forward.
2. Press and hold on the message.
3. Tap the three vertical dots in the top-right.
4. From the list, choose who you want to forward the message to. Alternatively, to send it to someone who isn't on that list, tap New Message.
5. The forwarded message will appear in the message field. You can add or amend this message if needed. When ready, tap the Send button (right arrow) to forward the message.

How to Forward a Text on Samsung Phones

1. Open the text conversation that contains the message you want to forward.
2. Press and hold on the message.
3. Tap Forward.
4. Find the recipient, either through the Conversations or Contacts tab. Tap their name. You can select multiple recipients if desired.
5. Tap Done.
6. The forwarded message will appear in the message field. You can add or amend this message if needed. When ready, tap the Send button (right arrow) to forward the message.

Why Can't I Forward a Text on Android?

If you can't see a forward option, it's probably because you've got the entire conversation selected or multiple texts. Unlike some of the best messaging apps like WhatsApp, most SMS apps don't allow you to forward multiple texts at once. If you encounter this issue, ensure you are selecting one text.
