官方Red Hat对 CentOS Linux 政策改变引起社区强烈不满，CentOS Linux很快成为Red Hat Enterprise Linux的上游，许多人将被迫改用SUSE或Ubuntu Enterprise。Red Hat目前 宣布了补救措施：企业级发行版 RHEL 将对小企业免费——限制条件是在生产环境运行 RHEL 的系统不能超过 16 个。此前只允许以 “开发”为目的免费访问RHEL。16个配额的免费计划，需要用户通过基于注册的开发者计划来完成，计划从2月1日开始施行。CentOS Linux 8 的支持计划仍然保持 2021 年 12 月 31 日截至。
