以色列特拉维夫大学的研究人员证明，紫外线 LED 灯（UV-LED）能有效快速的杀死新冠病毒，且其成本十分低廉。研究人员认为 UV-LED 技术有望很快商业化。研究报告发表在《Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology》期刊上。新冠疫情期间给公共场所消毒是一件相当费力费时间的事情，UV-LED 灯能将消毒过程变得更简单。基于 UV-LED 的消毒系统可以安装在通风口和空调，吸入空气然后将消毒过的空气释放到室内。研究人员的测试发现，285 纳米和 265 纳米波长的 UV-LED 灯的消毒效率都差不多，它们只需要不到半分钟就能消灭 99.9% 的病毒，其中 285 纳米波长的 UV-LED 灯泡成本更低也更容易获得。
