Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S21 series, has been rumored to be powered by its next-generation flagship SoC called the Exynos 2100, at least in Europe and India. While there's still no official word on when the handsets will debut, we now have Samsung's confirmation on when the Exynos 2100 will be unveiled.

The company announced today via Twitter that it's taking the wraps off of its new flagship Exynos chipset on January 12, 2021. The teaser doesn't specifically mention the Exynos 2100, of course, although it does note that it's going to be a "whole new Exynos".

Samsung was previously rumored to announce the Exynos 2100 on December 15, although that date passed by with no signs of the chipset. It's interesting to note that the SoC's unveiling comes two days prior to the rumored launch date of the Galaxy S21 series.

There's no other interesting information that can be glimpsed from Samsung's tweet other than the date. That said, previous rumors suggested that the Exynos 2100 would be built based on the Korean company's 5nm EUV process, with improved performance and efficiency.

Aside from Samsung's flagship phones, the Exynos 2100 is also expected to power future devices from OPPO, Xiaomi, and Vivo. That said, it remains to be seen what edge the chipset holds over Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 SoC.
