Like many things in the world ofJavaScript, there are plenty of choices for how to unit test your code. To help you save time when setting up a project, I've highlighted some of my favorite JavaScript testing tools for JavaScript unit testing.
What is unit testing in JS?
JavaScript unit testing is no different than unit testing in any other language: writing tests to assert that your code does what you intend it to do, in a variety of cases. The rule of thumb for software testing is: If it has logic (that we wrote ourselves), it needs tests.
For any application with a web experience, JavaScript is going to be a part of that application in some way. Even if you believe your business logic is “mostly” on the backend, it’ll be remiss to skip having any test infrastructure for your JavaScript codebase.
Unit tests make refactoring easier and ensure code quality -- it’s much easier to update code with confidence when you have tests to validate application behavior, or to write a test to programmatically validate that you fixed a bug.

Jest
Jest is a JavaScript testing framework that promotes itself as zero config, parallelized tests, with features like snapshots to make saving large diffs a breeze. Jest is maintained by Facebook, and was originally associated with testing for ReactJS users. Jest has a lot of features built-in, and works well with not only React, but Vue, Angular, Node.js, TypeScript projects and more.
Getting started writing unit tests with Jest usually requires zero configuration, and is easily installed with npm:
