We've teamed up with My Naturewatch to provide the components you'll need to build your very own Naturewatch Wildlife Camera powered by Raspberry Pi!
The Naturewatch wildlife camera uses computer vision to take pictures when it sees movement. When set out with a bit of food, you can capture images of birds, squirrels, foxes, badgers…
On the My Naturewatch Website you will find instructions to build the device using these components. It is inexpensive and easy to make at home or in schools, clubs, naturewatching groups or makerspaces.
You can find build instructions at the links below. Please note that the pre-bundled kit is designed for the daylight camera, but we do stock everything you'll need if you'd prefer the infrared version
My Naturewatch is a collaborative design research project between the Interaction Research Studio at Goldsmiths University and the Design Products Programme at the Royal College of Art, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
They are designing digital devices to collect visual and audio content about wildlife around the UK to promote positive engagements with nature (and technology). My Naturewatch Cam is only the first, so check back on the website to see more!
Kit contains:
The incredible photo of a fox was taken with a My Naturewatch Kit by the Roberts family. Thanks to Joanne for permission to use the photo, and to Ben (7) and Hugh (4) who put together the kit and managed to capture the fantastic image.
Please note: the microSD cards we supply come pre-loaded with NOOBS which may need to be deleted before you install the Naturewatch software
