Op verzoek van velen, het recept van de bonenhap die ik op de SHA2017 BBQ gemaakt had. Het is een lekker exotische combinatie die met weinig moeite iets heel bijzonders toevoegt aan je maaltijd.

Dit recept komt van Serious Eats, ik heb het lichtjes aangepast aan Nederlandse smaak, supermarkt & keukenspullen.

Naar verluidt is dit gerecht na een nachtje koelkast nog lekkerder.. maar daar kom je bijna nooit achter :-)

Nodig:

• Staafmixer (het kan ook zonder, zie einde recept)
• Wok of pan

Ingrediënten:

• Twee citroenen, of voorgeperst citroensap
• Twee blikken favabonen (in ieder geval verkrijgbaar bij de grotere Albert Heijn, of kleinere Albert Heijn in een voldoende internationale wijk). …

Recently I ran into an issue with sales that I think my startup friends are likely to run into as well. So please pay attention & don’t get hurt like I did.

When selling to large enterprises (who, despite what everyone thinks, still make the world go round) you’ll find that this is complicated business. When we communicate at the office, we frequently do not directly say what we mean. A common conversation might go like this “Hey John, we did a survey and it turns out people can’t find what they are looking for on our website”. And then John might say “Seriously — well, we should be looking into that quickly then. Can you get me that survey?”

What happened here is that John got a polite version of “John, this survey says our website sucks, go fix it”. Except that everyone can feel a lot better about it — the polite version goes down way smoother & leaves feathers unruffled. And because John is very used to communicating like this, he harbours no doubt that he just got work assigned to him. …

NASA heeft een satelliet die zoekt naar “exo-planeten”, planeten buiten ons zonnestelsel, bij andere sterren. Deze Kepler satelliet heeft honderdduizenden sterren bekeken, en om vele daarvan inderdaad planeten ontdekt.

Als er een planeet is die op de juiste manier een baan draait om zijn ster komt de planeet soms tussen ons en die ster in. En de ster geeft dan kort iets minder licht door de schaduw van de planeet. Als dat precies iedere x dagen gebeurt weten we zeker dat het gaat om een planeet.

Maar, sommige van de sterren.. deden heel andere dingen. “KIC8462852" was al in september 2015 door amateurastronomen, (die net als iedereen toegang hadden tot de rauwe Keplerdata), herkend als ‘een vreemde eend’. …

Frequently, privacy concerns and regulations get in the way of security analysis. I’m a big fan of privacy, but I’m also a big fan of security and preventing people from getting hacked. If you are hacked you have no privacy either.
