Crack is wack… but not this time.
While working at Buzz Media (formerly Buzznet), I started a password cracking contest with my peers. Here’s how it works:
Each person writes a simple password protected program in C and compiles it with gcc. We then give each other the binaries. Using only gdb and/or a hex editor, (without using any brute force techniques) we crack each others’ passwords. Mine remained uncracked. Our skilled systems architect, whom I truly respect, even had difficulty trying to crack this one.
So I’m just throwing this out there. If anybody out there can crack the password and (bonus) alter the code so you can run it without needing the password, you win.
