I created this step-to-step tutorial to create a cold and view-only wallet and verify the balance without getting your seed or private spend key online.
You'll need 2 computers, the monero software and an usb to achieve this. Remember to keep the offline PC offline! The screen prints on the offline pc are written in red The screen prints with onlline pc view wallet are witten in green
- You might want to verify your monero software is legit bij checking the SHA256 hash on: https://getmonero.org/downloads/
- Vid shows using a ubuntu 16.0.4 distro. On a windows device use monero-wallet-cli.exe instead of ./monero-wallet-cli.
- Everytime you want to verify the balance, you´ll have to execute the steps from 1:34
