Designing for multiple forms of input and output is no easy task. The dramatic rise in the number of microphones in devices has pushed multimodal design to new levels of complexity. Cheryl Platz joins us to talk about designing in this multimodal world.

“Every time you require one modality you’re leaving someone behind.”

We talk about the need for orchestrated experiences, the issue of cross-platform interoperability (or lack of), interruption matrixes, the significance of culture in multimodal design.

We also get a bit perplexed by why multi-language voice interfaces are still not here.
