How did we get here?

At Athelas, our goal has always been to increase access to clozapine by consolidating services in fewer places. We don’t want anyone to have to go to a doctor’s office, lab, and pharmacy just to get the medication they need.

Our first step was to replace the physical lab visit. We set up our FDA-cleared fingerstick hematology analyzer, the Athelas One, in doctor’s offices and point-of-care settings across the U.S. Under that model, patients can coordinate their required bloodwork with an existing doctor’s appointment or pharmacy visit.

Then COVID-19 hit. Our doctors and nurse practitioners transitioned to telehealth, making even in-office ANC tests difficult. How do we make sure people can get their tests when going anywhere poses a risk?
