## Dynamic Docker Monitoring with Micro Focus SiteScope

Wondering how well your Docker environment is performing? No more guessing with the Dynamic Docker Monitor from Micro Focus SiteScope. It provides monitoring of your Docker environment so that you can understand how it is performing in real-time. It provides performance statistics of a Docker environment from the cluster manager level through the Docker daemon layer, to the container level and the applications which run inside the containers. It monitors the health of the cluster manager and each Docker node as well. You can choose to monitor a single Docker node, a full cluster (both swarm and kubernetes), or several nodes on a cluster.

The Dynamic Docker Monitor can create monitors corresponding to the automatically detected containerized applications, all at run time. The dynamic monitoring mechanism automatically detects:

  • Containers that are present in a Docker node at run time
  • Any new containers that are added, stopped or removed at run time
  • New UCP nodes that are added to the UCP cluster
  • Applications running inside containers at run time

On a Docker node, Micro Focus SiteScope monitors the physical counters coming from the node, counters from the containers, counters from the service and counters from the workload in the containers. In a cluster, Micro Focus SiteScope will monitor the cluster manager, the physical machine hosting the cluster manager, the Docker service on the cluster manager and the individual nodes participating in the cluster as shown in Figure 14.

You can start monitor your Docker environment with the following 3 simple steps:

  1. Download and start Micro Focus SiteScope image
  2. For system requirements and installation instructions, see the “Installing SiteScope” chapter in the Micro Focus SiteScope Deployment Guide.
  3. Connect to Micro Focus SiteScope using a web browser at port 8080
