2019年4月18日。舞台剧《三体II：黑暗森林》在上海首演，原著作者刘慈欣出席。期间他接受记者采访，当被问及《三体》为什么不能交给好莱坞拍？大刘说，“好莱坞的科幻片，故事、背景可以复杂可以曲折，但主题不能复杂，必须黑白分明。《三体》违反了这条最根本的原则。”
