iOS 13.6 Beta Adds an Option to Customize Automatic Updates

Apple releases 2nd beta of iOS 13.6 and iPadOS 13.6 with an option to customize automatic updates. In earlier releases, users were able to install automatic updates, but after the new version downloads in the background.

Therefore, Apple is introducing a new toggle option to customize that feature. You can now choose how your iPhone or iPad can download updates using WiFi, and also when these new updates are installed.

I think it’s always good to have more control over what you want to do with your iPhone or iPad. However, this feature is only available in iOS 13.6 beta 2, and if you are not a beta user but is looking forward to having this feature, well you might want to be a little bit patient until the public release of iOS 13.6.

You can find this new feature in

  • Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Customize Automatic Updates

On the other hand, WWDC 2020 is less than two weeks away, which means we will get to know iOS 14 in less than two weeks.

Stay tuned for more coming updates.
