Exclusive: Motorola Edge+ renders reveal waterfall display and tiny punch-hole camera

It’s been a while since Motorola launched a flagship smartphone. The last device to fit the bill was the Moto Z3 in 2018. Two years later, Motorola is expected to get back in the game with the Motorola Edge+. The spec sheet of the smartphone was recently leaked online, and now, Pricebaba has partnered with tipster Onleaks to bring you exclusive 5K renders as well as a 360-degree video of the upcoming smartphone. The renders reveal that the Motorola Edge+ will sport a dramatic curved “waterfall” display and possibly the smallest punch-hole cutout we’ve seen on a smartphone yet.

Motorola Edge+ renders

The most noticeable feature of the Motorola Edge+ is of course its waterfall display, which cascades down both the left and right edges. While this makes the sides bezel-less, there are discernable bezels at the top and bottom. The other key aspect that stands out is the punch-hole selfie camera on the top left, which is tiny and barely noticeable. The renders also suggest that the phone will be fairly chunky. According to Onleaks, the smartphone will measure 161.1 x 71.3 x 9.5mm, with the area around camera bump extending to 11.5mm.

As seen in the renders, the Motorola Edge+ will have a slit for earpiece above the display. Speaking of the display, the Edge+ will feature a screen that will measure between 6.5-inches and 6.8-inches. OnLeaks also confirms that the smartphone will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, although this isn’t visible in the renders.

The back panel is home to triple cameras and the batwing Motorola logo in the centre. The LED lighting around the logo hints that it may double up as a notification indicator. The triple rear cameras are stacked vertically at the top left corner, and seem to protrude a fair bit. Next to them is a module housing a dual-LED flash unit and a couple of sensors. You can also spot two noise-cancelling mics at the back – one above the cameras and the second towards the bottom edge.

Apart from this, we can see that the flagship will sport a 3.5mm audio jack on the top, and an ejectable SIM card tray, noise-cancelling mic, USB Type-C port and speaker grill at the bottom. On the right edge, a textured power button is visible, alongside the volume rocker.

Motorola Edge+ specifications and features

The Motorola Edge+ specifications were recently leaked and revealed that the smartphone will flaunt a 6.67-inch curved display bearing FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz high refresh rate. As is expected from a flagship device, the Motorola Edge+ will have the Snapdragon 865 chipset ticking at its core. The processor will further be paired with 8GB or 12GB RAM, depending on the variant.

The leaks also revealed that the phone will boot Android 10 in its stock iteration, like all other Motorola offerings. It will be powered by a 5,170mAh battery, and given that it’s a flagship, fast charging is a given. The Motorola Edge+ will also be the first smartphone from the brand to come with support for 5G networks. Unfortunately, no other details of the phone are known at the moment.

The Motorola Edge+ is expected to launch in the US via Verizon and will also be released globally. However, there’s no word on whether the phone will head to India.
