Can we please appreciate the level of thought Apple puts into their web designs? πŸ‘πŸΎ πŸ‘πŸΎ πŸ‘πŸΎ

@aaron_kazah agree. Their product landing pages are always world class.

@aaron_kazah @rrhoover When do we start thinking of environmental sustainability when it comes to 'good design'? These are essentially disposable gadgets. Once the battery dies, they are useless. Millions of them will end up on landfill. It might be great engineering, but it's *bad* design. Anything that is 'use once, throw out' is bad design. Sorry. >>> https://www.vice.com/en_au/artic...

@kaibrach How is this 'use once' ? It's rechargeable?
Kai BrachPublisher, Offscreen Magazine
@adridder When the batteries no longer hold charge, the entire product ends up on landfill. And as far as I know, Apple doesn't bother recycling smaller items like this. Millions of them will be around hundreds of years from now. What I'm saying is that we need to rethink what 'good design' means. This sort of disrespect for materials and the environment is bad design – at least if we think designers have a responsibility beyond customer happiness and company profits. Well-designed products should be circular. They should be upgradable and maintainable. And at the end of their life cycle should at least partially be able to be repurposed.
Alexander De RidderI'm a creative technologist
@kaibrach How do you come to the conclusion that this is specifically, quote "a product design problem", and not instead a lack of recycling program (as far as you know), which for all I know, they might be working on?

AirPods are one of my favorite products int he past few years. The new noise canceling feature (for phone/video calls) is worth the purchase for me but also happy to see better Siri integration and the audio-sharing feature.

@rrhoover Any chance reviews/ratings could be disabled for pre-launch products? They're completely meaningless on this product page at the moment seeing as AirPods Pro have yet to ship. Same has happened with other products getting tanked or inflated without having launched.
@rrhoover the audio sharing already exists for all generations of airpods as long as the phone is running iOS 13.
Looks like Jony Ive indeed left Apple

@jerre_baum why do you say that though? It's not like the AirPods Pro look ugly or anything.

Being able to actually fit them to your ears is going to be key. Love it.

I think these look good, an upgrade from the standard model we've had for a while. Noise cancellation will be fantastic. Only disappointment is the battery life. Less than the non-pro version. For those that frequently use the Airpods microphone for an extended period of time, a boost in battery life on the pro line would have been amazing.

@max_campolo1 Talk time is 3.5 hours on the Pro vs 3 hours on Airpods 2. Listen time is the same, with noise cancelling turned off - and only 30 mins less with it on.

I've never once ran out of battery on my AirPods 1 or 2, so this has never been an issue for me (but maybe it's because they fall out often enough I just out them in the case a lot! )

@edholloway Thanks just saw the stat on the buy page as well, that is good news.

@max_campolo1 Yea, I think apple let the engineers put that table together instead of the marketing team :-) When you look at the full specs on both, the pro looks a little better
