I love Hacker News and it's always a goto site for me in my free time but I didn't find any suitable client for my mobile. So I asked HN Community how they consume HN in their phone - https://news.ycombinator.com/ite...

Many people suggested few other alternative sites, but none of them suit my requirement. Many things that i wanted in the app was- I wanted to know what's new on hacker news if there are any, I don't want my phone buzzing with another push notification to disturb me and an easy way to share and save any stories easily.

So I came up with an Android Launcher which doesn't push any notification, but whenever you open the phone, if there are any new stories then there will be a tiny banner of green light on your screen indicating there's new news available, and I can access them via just a swipe.

Say hello to Hacker News Launcher :)

This is nice. I see in the settings an option to "Display Google app to the left of the main Home screen", this doesn't seem to have any effect. HN news is shown to the left regardless and the Google app (I assume this to mean the google news/now feed) is nowhere to be found. Also, I had to bypass the app in Blokada in order to get anything other than the first tab to load. How exactly are ads shown in this app? I have not yet seen any even with the bypass, which makes me question whether they are woven into the news feed in a misleading way.

Hi, yes Display Google App to left actually work like google pixel launcher. You will see google news feed, if its available when you swipe left from middle of the screen. If you swipe left from the corner you will see the hacker news.

Ads we have integrated the facebook native ads. It should appear between 5-6 stories in the news feed if fill rate is available.

@skytreasure I have swiped from everywhere I can think of and the HN feed opens from the left just fine. I have a Pixel and is how I always read my Google feed, but it's not working at all here, just the HN feed.
@vaelek Hey i will debug and get back to you on this.
@vaelek Hey my mistake, have identified the issue. Will try to fix by today and publish the new build, thanks for letting us know.
