Android 10 custom ROMs arrive on the Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Redmi Note 7, and the Lenovo ZUK Z2 Plus

Android 10 is the latest Android version out there, but it is available officially on only a handful of devices, namely the Google Pixels, the Essential Phone, the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro and the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro so far. But since the source code of the new release has already made its way to AOSP, custom ROM developers have helped us experience all the new features on Android through custom ROMs across a growing list of devices, including but not limited to the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 6, POCO F1, Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T, Asus ZenFone 6/Asus 6z, Asus ZenFone 5z, and LG G2. We now have more additions to the list, as the Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, the Redmi Note 7 and the Lenovo ZUK Z2 Plus have also joined in on the update train.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (device codename: lavender) has received its first builds of LineageOS 17. The list of features that are already working is decently populated, but there do exist bugs with encryption and Wi-Fi display. Since this is an initial release, we do expect some undocumented bugs laying around.

The Xiaomi Mi 3, released back in September 2013, will not receive the Android 10 update officially from Xiaomi. But if you still want to try it out, you can check out these AOSP based custom ROM builds that are marked for the Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, and Xiaomi Mi 4 LTE. The only bug mentioned for the ROM is that the NFC does not work on the Mi 3, but otherwise, this appears to be a solid first release.

The Lenovo ZUK Z2 Plus also joins the list with the first release of LineageOS 17. The bug list is substantial, showing off issues Bluetooth audio, WiFi hotspot, VoLTE, and Encryption among other things. But since is this is an initial release, we do expect bugs, and having them documented beforehand warns users who rely heavily on these features.

It goes without saying that you should back up your data before attempting to flash any of these builds, or any other custom ROMs or other custom software. If its loss will affect you, back it up, no excuses. These early builds are primarily targeted for users who want to try out the latest version of Android, Android 10, and understand the risks attached to early release software.
