Exclusive: Google Pixel 4 renders reveal square camera bump, no physical fingerprint scanner

Google recently launched the toned down versions of its flagships, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. Now, all eyes are on the next big launch from the brand – the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. Google is known for launching its flagship Pixels in October, and going by the track record, we still have a long way to go. However, Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka OnLeaks managed to get his hands on leaked schematics of the Pixel 4. Pricebaba has now partnered with the tipster to bring you the first exclusive 5K renders of the upcoming Pixel flagship. Do note that since the renders are based on early prototyping schematics, some features are subject to change before launch.

Google Pixel 4 renders

What immediately stands out from the render above is that the Pixel 4 will feature a square camera module – similar to leaked renders we’ve seen of the Apple iPhone XI. According to OnLeaks, we can expect at least two cameras inside the square bump, if not three. Google’s Pixel phones are known for their camera prowess, and this will be the first time Google is using multiple camera lenses at the rear.

The renders also seem to be missing the fingerprint scanner, which indicates that the company might opt for either an in-display fingerprint sensor or 3D face unlock module. According to the tipster, the positioning of the earpiece hints that the company will retain the notch from the last year.

The second render shows that there will be two speaker grills at the edge flanking the USB Type-C port, which means that the upcoming Pixel flagship will ditch the traditional front-firing speakers. We can also see the physical buttons for volume and power on the right side of the smartphone, while the left edge is bare. As usual, Google is ditching the 3.5mm audio interface on the upcoming flagship. Unfortunately, this is all that can be deduced from the early prototype schematics of the upcoming phone.

Google Pixel 4 rumoured specifications

Not much is known about the Pixel 4 at this point, but a few leaked benchmarks have suggested that it will come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Another piece of crucial information revealed by these leaks is the presence of 6GB of RAM. The smartphone will also boot the latest Android Q software as is the trend with Pixel flagships. Apart from this, no other information is available.

Given that we’re still a while away from launch, we expect a lot more information about the Pixel 4 to surface over the coming months.
