OxygenOS, the custom UI which powers OnePlus smartphones is clearly one of the neatest and feature-rich strains of Android. And, OnePlus keeps updating it religiously with new features and optimizing earlier features. Before most of these new updates are sent out to all the users, a smaller batch of testers evaluate the changes in the beta phase and give their feedback. As part of the constant development and new reasons to Never Settle, OnePlus has rolled out newer OxygenOS open beta updates for the OnePlus 6 /6T andOnePlus 5/5T, streamlining a host of elements in order to improve the user experience.

OnePlus has now released the OxygenOS Open Betas 29 and 27 for OnePlus 5 andOnePlus 5T as well as Open Betas 15 and 7 for OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, respectively. These updates bring general bug fixes and system optimizations. Similar level of changes have been brought to all of the four devices and the changelog for the update is as follows:

  • System
    • Screenshot UI optimizations
  • Gallery
    • Improved photo editor (only for OnePlus 6/6T)
  • Launcher
    • Improved color adaptation for cards in the shelf
  • OnePlus Switch
    • Supported permissions migration for applications
  • Weather
    • More detailed weather alerts
    • Weather timeline mirrors system time format
    • General bug fixes and improvements
  • Phone
    • UI optimizations

If you’re already an Open Beta tester, you shall receive this update via an OTA. But, if you’re on the stable channel, you must download and flash the latest Open Beta on your OnePlus 5/5T or OnePlus 6/6T. Doing so might wipe your data so do it carefully.

You can share your opinions about the latest Open Betas or report bugs by visiting OnePlus’ feedback page . You can also share your feedback using the Community app on OnePlus smartphones. Just go to Profile>Feedback, click on the + icon and choose a suitable category for the feedback, fill in the details and click on Submit.

Note that once you have moved to the Open Beta, you will not receive OTAs from the stable channel and in order to revert back, you’ll have to wipe your device and install fresh firmware again.
