2005年2月16日，腾讯QQ同时在线人数首次突破1000万。同年6月6日，“QQ宠物”正式上线，仅用一年的时间，QQ宠物最高同时在线人数就突破了100万，成为最大的网络虚拟宠物社区。这只萌宠陪伴一代QQ用户成长的同时，也见证了QQ的全盛时期。如今，这只萌宠将彻底退出历史舞台，2018年9月15日它将正式停止营运。
