Linux Lite 是一个基于 Ubuntu 长期支持版本（LTS）的 Linux 发行版，搭载 Xfce 桌面环境。Linux Lite 的目的是将 Windows 用户引入 Linux，对新手比较友好。其旨在提供一套完整的应用程序来帮助用户满足用户日常的计算需求，这包括完整的办公套件、媒体播放器和其他基本的日常软件。
该项目于 5 月 31 日发布了 Linux Lite 4.0 版。这一版本标志了代号为 Diamond 的 Linux Lite 4.x 系列的开始。
该系列带来变化主要包括：新图标和系统主题、用于系统备份的 Timeshift、管理和执行图像基本编辑的 Shotwell、管理菜单条目的 MenuLibre、包含管理桌面图标的 Lite Desktop 在内的新的 Lite 应用程序、管理全系统声音的 Lite Sounds 以及诸多现有的许多应用程序的更新。
这一版本略微提高了最低推荐 RAM 及 CPU 配置。4.x 系列不再包含 32 位 ISO 镜像，需要 32 位的用户可以选择被支持至 2021 年 4 月的 3.x 系列。这一版本将 XFCE Pulseaudio 插件添加到了系统托盘以方便改变音量管理的配置。全盘加密取代了此前安装器支持的 home 目录加密。这一版本还包含了开箱即用的 Compositing。
除此之外，受上游 Ubuntu 影响，交换分区（swap space）将被交换文件（swap file）取代，后者将会在安装时被自动创建。
