What is your biggest challenge?

Hello, all. I'm fairly new to posting, commenting, etc but I've been really trying to absorb the knowledge I've found here, so far, and it's been awesome to learn from you!

That said, I'd like to try and learn some more, if that's okay. So, I'm doing some research into the startup space and I'm curious to know what the biggest challenges, problems, etc you face on a day-to-day basis are. For example, what kind of things keep you up at night? Any solutions you've found would be highly appreciated, too.

Also, to keep things positive, too, I'd be very curious to know what things you look forward to on a day-to-day basis. For example, what would you say is your biggest desire for your business?

Hopefully I'm not overstepping by asking all this but I'd love to get a better understanding of what makes other startup entrepreneurs tick. Thanks!

Biggest challenge is not enough hours in the day and being too driven by billable work instead of personal development

So would you say time management is your biggest challenge, or having too many things to do that you don't feel you have time to do them all (or something else that I didn't think of)?

That is funny that you say focussing too much on billable work. As we are in the startup support space, most first time entrepreneurs seem to have the opposite problem which is fear of attacking those billable hours and focussing too much on the personal, networking (not for their startup), developing skills, etc..

I love your POV, do you have an instagram?

I had a chance to check your website. Very cool product! I think it would be useful to dig in deeper on why someone won't buy it. There must be an underlying reason why. Maybe it's the price point? Seems pretty expensive.

I'm not claiming to be an expert (obviously) but could that mean you're targeting the wrong market? If you don't mind my asking, what do you sell?

One of my biggest challenges is focus.

I love what I do and would never do anything else. Some days when I'm working 14 hours+ it can get hard to stay focused.

Another challenge as the Tech Co Founder is making sure everything is working flawlessly. As the only tech resource in the company managing the iOS App, API, AWS, and server policy can be difficult. We are also adding an android app into the mix but we are bringing on a close friend of mine to help us with that.

My last challenge is to have fun. If your not having fun then whats the point? Nothing is easy and nothing is given to you. But a smile on your face cannot hurt.

Thats all! Have fun :)

Thanks! I'm a technically-minded person, too, so I relate well with some of what you said regarding focus. After several hours, focus can definitely become an issue for anyone, if think.

Regarding managing so much (i.e. your app, the API, etc), what have you found to help, if anything?

I agree with others: the tension between easy billings and meaningful work that pushes the world forward or develops you in some way. Do the former to make time for the latter. Life is too short for anything else.

Noted, thanks for taking the time to respond!

Being decent with the technical and design end, but being a pretty shitty business person / money manager. Also, having ideas and not enough time to execute on them the way I want them executed. Also, while having 2 children is a motivator, it's also, having 2 children (I don't want them executed though, most of the time) and having to put all the work time aside til other people's needs are met. So I've been cramming 8 hour work days into 4 hour nights and existing on 4 hours of sleep a day for longer than I want to admit.

Thanks! It's starting to seem like time issues might be a big one...

Creating a cohesive team while adhering to my company's vision.

Also, work life balance has become the bane of my existence

Thanks for the response; interesting point! What kind of company is it? Have you found anything to be really helpful in that regard? As far as work life balance, have you found anything that helps you manage it well?

Being an entrepreneur is a mindset which keeps you going. In my case, it is a day full of decisions to make, responsibilities to take and tasks to do. However, it is a roll I enjoy, I feel I contribute every day. Every now and then, I rethink some of my decisions, and sometimes I feel that my goals are farfetched, but giving up is never my option.
