How long do you plan on supporting this phone?

level 2

"it's coming with N, so it won't get past O but we'll say it'll get P and Q too"

level 2

It should be on the same support circle as the normal OP5, so it will either come with Oreo or get Oreo soon afterwards. The OP5(T) will then become the master device for the open beta program for one year which means it will be updated to Android P. After that update, the OP6 will become the master device for open beta and the OP5 software support will be shrink down to minor updates, bugfixes and security fixes.

level 1

Will the OnePlus 5T feature a microSD card slot?

level 2

lets keep asking and hopefully they will not remove it on future versions. till then, im skipping 1+.

level 1

Will the OnePlus 5T have OIS or any equivalent camera stabilization? If not, do you plan on including it in later models?

level 1

What does the (T) stands for and the meaning behind it?

level 2

its S + 1= they said it when 3t was announced

level 2

"never seTiTle"

Originally, it was just to bypass the number four (they went 3, 3T, and then to 5) because tetraphobia is common in eastern countries. I doubt it stands for anything; kind of like Apple's 'S' models.

level 1

Is there any chance for a version with 256GB flash, even a limited edition? Or microSD? Since without such a version I will be forced to get another phone where I have the microSD.

level 2

if only they would not remove the micro SD slot!!! all/most Vivo and OPPO phones have expandable storage but for some dumb reason 1+ removes it! its all just greed! i would still get the 128GB version if it had expandable storage.

Are the screens going to be put on the correct way?

"no bcz we're a small company, try to give us some slack ok"

You said that android 8.0 would be the last major update for the 3 and 3T. Will they get 8.1?

level 1

Will you be providing an official Australian charger with the 5T (in Australia), if not, do you have any plans to manufacture Australian chargers in the future?

level 1

Will the OnePlus 5T launch with Android Oreo? If not, do you plan to add Project Treble support to the 5T or any previous OnePlus devices?

level 1

Do you have any plans to use Project Treble with the OP5T or later Smartphones?

level 2

FYI any phone that ships with android 8+ is required to implement treble

level 1
  1. Is the OnePlus 5T water resistant (dealbreaker if it's not).

  2. Does the OnePlus 5T support USB Power Delivery or Quickcharge so i can use accessories with those capabilities built in?

level 2

2. I hope it does, but that may reduce sales of proprietary dash charge accessories, so I will go on a limb here and say no.

level 2

Why would not having water resistance be a deal breaker? It may sound cool today, but two years from now when your battery wears out and needs to be replaced, you'll be wishing you had a phone that was more repair-friendly as you're breaking through all that adhesive they'd use to hold down the screen.

level 1

Are you doing anything differently this time to help meet demands?

level 1

Will there still be a fingerprint scanner on the 5T? also, if there's another price hike it might deter a lot of potential customers away.

level 2

Front-facing fingerprint scanner please!

level 1

Will you work with netflix/google to make sure we can watch HD video on Netflix?

Will you fix music scrubbing for Google Play Music?

level 2

What is Music scrubbing, like when it studders?

level 2

Scrubbing = grabbing the play head and moving it back/forwards.

level 1

Will y'all ever update the Max background processes to be a larger value? Apps still reload not infrequently on 8gb ram op5 which is a bummer. Can there be monthly security updates instead of inconsistent schedule?

level 1

any chance you'll finally add expandable storage to your phones? OPPO and Vivo do, why cant you?

When are you planning to roll out android 8.0?

level 1

Will you pledge NOT to remove any headphone jacks?

level 2

no, because that would be dumb. they'll do whatever will sell the most phones, and a pledge might sell phones short-term, but not long term when they break the pledge, because it will eventually make the most sense to ditch the headphone jack.

level 2

they rely on oppo for their phone designs, if oppo removes them oneplus will too

level 2

That would be like PC manufacturers pledging to keep floppy drive. Sure it may make sense now, but nobody knows what will happen in the future.

They have already confirmed 5T has one, but nobody can predict future trends.

level 1

How have you seen the smartphone industry change in the last years, and how do you feel about this direction?

level 1

will you add infrared camera? that will allow Night vision mode?

level 2

Infrared camera? In the hot internals of a smartphone? Without scratch-resistant glass covers (blocks IR)? With smartphone sensor-sizes and optics?

I mean, it'd be cool. But not even the military has access to such a technology.

level 2

A very small amount of people would need and use it though. You might be interested in CAT S60

level 1

Will you restock accessories for the 3/3T? You go through phones so quickly, I was never able to buy a tempered screen protector and a case. Since the 5 seems different from the 5T design wise, will they get their accessories stocked for a longer time?

level 1

Will the screen be mounted in the right direction on the 5T (refresh from top to bottom)?

Can we have more detailed information about launch countries?

Thank you.

level 1

Why do you track the ssids that I connect to on my OnePlus 3t?

level 2

I am not OnePlus, but SSIDs are often used for location services when other sensors aren't available.

level 1

So, I'm interested in getting a new phone, time to replace my old Nexus 5. I check around, and hey, there's a lot of sites going on about the OnePlus 3T... go to your site... out of stock.

Well, what do you have? OnePlus 5? Out of stock.

SO, that limited availability gimmick for the OnePlus One was amusing, I guess, but it looks like that's going to be your MO long term. Is that the case? What am I missing?

level 1

Will you do an upgrade program for the existing Oneplus 5 owners? as I recently bought a contract with o2 for a OnePlus 5, but I wouldn't mind trading it in and paying a little extra for a OnePlus 5T.

level 1

Does it support Widevine DRM level 1 so it can play HD Netflix?

level 1

For what duration will you garantee software support? I'm still on my oneplus2 and that's the one thing that let me down and is making me doubt buying another oneplus phone.

level 1

I'm interested to know your perspective on OS fluency. OnePlus seems to be competing with the big boys when it comes to how snappy the OS is. I am not referring to just the speed I am also referring to the framerate in which simple tasks like swiping down the notifications bar are performed. I'm wondering what methods you will use in the future to increase the "speed" and "snappiness" of the Android operating system?

level 1

Will OnePlus make a cdma capable phone?

level 2

Why? It's getting phased out

level 1

Will the new phone be able to scan my face like the X?

level 2

^ That's a deal-killer for me, don't do that

level 2

FYI, face detection has been on Android for years, it is just that Apple made it more advanced.

Is making a "T" model your new business model? If so, will we see a 6T around the same time next year?

What did you or will you do with the stolen information that you guys took from your users?

level 1
[deleted]
· 5 yr. ago

Why was the T version released so close to the previous One Plus 5 phone? I hear the prices were going to be similar, if not the same, so that pretty much gave all the OP5 owners buyer's remorse.

I'm glad I didn't go for the OP5 but did consider going to the OP5 from my current phone previously.

Here's a question you can answer on stream though, why should I choose your phone over others like the LG G6 or Essential Phone that are in the same price range?

level 1

Will you permit brightness slider with 1 swipe instead of 2 (like Huawei & Samsung?)

Will the new phone not copy Apple's design & go back to its unique roots?

OIS for camera?

level 1

The last few phone launches, many accessories like the style swap cases sold out in minutes. Will there be enough cases available when the OnePlus 5T launches?

level 1

I've read quite a few recent posts of AT&T customers having issues getting LTE to their new OnePlus phones. I read the reason for this is because AT&T doesn't recognize the phone, so they throttle the phone to 3G speeds.

This may be more of an AT&T issue, but what is the best way around this? Or is this even true?

level 1

how about bringing ur budget series like oneplus X instead of this similarly spec-ed flagships within 6 months interval??

level 2

You might want to try OPPO phones then.

level 1

Do you plan on making the alert slider customizable?

level 1

Why there is no global on/off switch for vibration? We can disable Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for example. Why we must endure forced vibration? It's inhumane!

Why there is only 15 volume steps? Should be 100.

level 1

Is it launching with Oreo, and therefore with Treble?

level 1

Will the oreo update for current devices fully support project treble?

level 1

Are you planning to include project treble in your operating system for older phones such ad the 3t, and if added would we get past Oreo?

I had a OnePlus One and it broke under warranty, and I was told a courier would pick it up and ship it back to HK or wherever. No courier ever came despite repeated phone calls/emails. The box literally sat on my porch for six months. Has your warranty service changed since those early days?

level 1

Is Project Treble going to be used on the 5t?

level 1

When will one plus phones support CDMA networks? Those of us on verizon have been waiting since the one plus one for CDMA support so we could get in on what others get to enjoy. It seems like recently more and more flagships offer support for all networks and providers. Looking forward to the day that One Plus offers a phone that is supported by all networks and fits in the hand well unlike so many modern large screen phones.

level 1

Do you plan to add Project Treble support to the OnePlus 5T?

level 1

Do you have plans to support CDMA in the future? Many of us Verizon and Sprint users would love to get our hands on your devices.

level 2

this 100% My current choices are samsung (dont want samsung), google (dont want a screen that is blueish and gets image burn), or iphone X (not going to spend the money to get a first generation apple product)

level 1

Will the 5T, unlike the 5, be available through Verizon? Like the idea of the phone but can't switch carriers.

level 1

Will you guys ever IPO?

level 1

Why don't other phone providers use the same fast-charge technology that OnePlus uses?

level 2

I believe i've seen this one answered before, but i'm too lazy to look it up again, so don't trust me, BUT... i think the issue is that qualcomm QC uses phone-side chips to regulate voltage, which take up space in the phone and generate heat that must be dissipated from within the phone, but oneplus/oppo's fast charge uses charger-side voltage regulation. sounds like oneplus's tech is better but less widely adopted, if that is true.

level 1

Will there be OIS? If not, can EIS be used in third-party application such as Instagram.

level 1

multi color LED notification light like the nexus 5x (and all previous ones), will you make it happen?

level 1

Why do the prices for your new phones keep creeping up?

level 1

When will you release the camera blobs?

level 1

level 1

A pretty carrier specific question. Will the 7 have the ability to utilize the new 5g spectrum from tmobile?

level 1

Where in Brooklyn???

level 1

How strong is the phone? Will I need a brick case to make sure I don't shatter the screen

level 2

There are some Motorolas with plastic screens. Check them out.

level 1

in general, how far apart are your Android updates from Google's security patches for Nexus/Pixels?

level 1

will it fully support and implements aptX? will it have same camera as 1+5?

level 1

Do you plan on continuing the trend of bringing one 'new model' out every year (OP3/OP5) and then releasing an upgraded version 2-3 months later (OP3T/OP5T)?

level 1

US flagship phones' successes are a combination of phone and customer service. When are you going to catch up on the second part? I think it's ridiculous that GPS didn't work properly on my 5 for two months and your team's solution was to post on a user forum asking people to do a 20 minute long debug process. You need to be proactive about this stuff. User forums are for enthusiasts, not everyday phone owners.

level 1

Will there ever be one with a physical keyboard? I would like to upgrade from my BlackBerry Priv

level 2

No. Soon there will be smartphones without any buttons and holes. Screen is all you need. Get with the program.

level 1

What's the main difference between the OnePlus 5 128GB version and the OnePlus 5T?

level 1

Any plans to put the hydrogenOS launcher as an option (for the international version ofc)?

level 1

What is the address?

level 1

is it waterproof?

level 1

When I logged into my Neon account today (11/10/17 at 8:15 AM - PT) the Neon page came up blank. Are you having technical issues?

level 1

Here's the million-dollar question.

Are you guys going to answer any of these other questions?

level 1

I guess a lot of users loved the hardware buttons on the front. Now that they obviously had to be removed because of the larger screen, have you thought about implementing on screen gestures like on the iPhone X? (Otherwise, the screen space that we gained is already taken away by on screen buttons.)

level 1

Is the display flipped like the one on the OP5? I'm worried the new device will experience the same "Jelly Scrolling" effect that the OP5 has.

level 1

Will new on-screen buttons have customizable actions like old capacitive ones (long press, double tap)?

level 1

Will you give me a free 5T phone?

level 1

I'm hearing that the OnePlus 5T will sport a 6.01-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) AMOLED display. If you math that out it equals 401ppi. Typically I've seen 1080P displays on phones 5.5" and smaller. On a 6.01" display will this be noticeable/more pixelated than other phones that are equivalent size?

level 1

Will you ever stop avoiding implementing Treble?

level 1

When are you coming to Latin America?

level 1

Are you proud of the product you have made.

level 1

What is it that you do? I shouldn't have to scroll through comments to find out what your company actually is.

level 1

Hey! I know reviewers have said back and forth statements about your phones, so I wanted to know directly from you: how do you think your phone places in the current market of smartphones?

level 1

hey One Plus i am still waiting since 3 days on a RMA. Not happy at all with your customer service.

level 1

Can I have one for free?
