How Widely are NFTs and Crypto Accepted Online?

While we all know cryptocurrency and NFTs have come a very long way from the early days, it’s safe to say that the Internet as a whole still hasn’t shown universal acceptance. Between the teething issues and ups and downs of many coins, businesses and retailers have often been hesitant to open up to crypto.

We are quickly reaching a point, however, where some coins are beginning to see much more mainstream use, at least in some industries. For this article, we’re going to look at all the places where both crypto and NFTs are most accepted right now.

Retailers

In terms of retailers, the list is extensive and always growing, especially in the States. BitPay lists over 250 retailers that accept crypto, and while some are smaller or more niche companies, there are plenty of massive companies like Best Buy, Walmart, and Home Depot that will accept at least Bitcoin. In some cases, it isn’t possible to pay directly with crypto but instead, you can convert your coin of choice into eVouchers to use.

The range of goods and services available now covers almost everything; you can get books and sports gear just as easily with crypto as you get train tickets or fast food. The caveat to all of these is that most will only readily accept a handful of the biggest coins, with eWallet conversions needed for any smaller ones.

Entertainment

Perhaps unsurprisingly, those who spend a lot of time playing games online have welcomed crypto with open arms more than any other part of the Internet. On the video gaming side, there has been an explosion of games not only using crypto but also NFTs. If reports are to be believed, even the big names like Playstation and Xbox are looking into NFT integration for their next generations.

Even more than video gaming, though, online casino gaming has gone full force into crypto. Having a range of payment methods available, such as card options and e-wallets like PayPal, ensures that casino online game sites stay at the very forefront of payment method technology.

Charities

On a completely different tack, charities have really taken to crypto in a big way. In fact, some of the biggest charities in the world that operate internationally actually encourage crypto transfers over other payment methods due to various restrictions where they operate. This includes UNICEF which has a dedicated crypto fund.

One noteworthy organization is The Giving Block, a group set up to help smaller charities access crypto donations from all over the world. They work with hundreds of non-profit groups and unlike most other sites, they accept a massive range of different coins beyond the largest ones. If you don’t know exactly who to give to, you can just select a keyword like ‘environment’ or ‘medical’ and the site will assign it for you.

This is a list that is always extending so make sure you keep up with all the changes and the latest news.
