Does Netflix/Disney+ still give an error when rooted on android 13?

I don't have either of those degenerate media apps... Can't help you there.

I've got my shamiko module installed and both Netflix and Disney Plus added to my deny list. I've also got the Magisk app renamed and Frozen with Icebox. I then have the modified version of the "Universal SafetyNet Fix" (version 2.3.1 beta 4.1) module installed.

For me, Netflix works and Disney Plus does not. 🤷‍♂️

Temporary workaround for Disney Plus is just by using some browser like Chrome with "Desktop site" option enabled and watch from there. Works fine.

I haven't rooted a phone in a very long time, but I just purchased a Oneplus Ace Pro and I want to root it for a few reasons. but before I attempt the root I had a question for you guys on Rooting a Oneplus Ace Pro

Since this is the China version of the Oneplus10T, can I root it and then flash a global version of the Oneplus 10T OS?

Will I lose any functionality by rooting the device? for example will banking apps work? will FB Messenger and Whatsapp work?

Is there a guide for rooting the Oneplus Ace Pro and updating the OS to the global 10T version?

I've been reading thru a lot of posts and I'm a bit lost on how to root the device and what, if any, functionality will be lost once I root it

I appreciate the help in advance

In my experience, the biggest issue I've encountered with root is with some banking apps. However, I've been able to avoid those apps getting blocked so long as I make sure to do all of the necessary things (Shamiko, hide Magisk, freeze Magisk, etc.) BEFORE ever accessing my banking app. If I accessed my banking app with root and had NOT done all of the necessary things first, my bank would blacklist my device. The only way I found to get around this was to reset my device and try again.

Other than that, I have not had too many issues (beyond Disney plus not working).

I am not having any problems with banking apps. Everything works great, as long as I use Magisk hide, Magisk deny list, shamiko module and safety net fix module.r
There are people claimming to have had problems with netflix though.

Did you try Redbox app?
If you are able to play some free movies there, it's still good
BTW, USNF 2.4 is out and it's still 2/3 on play integrity

No, I have not tried the Redbox app. I did update to USNF 2.4, but Disney Plus still doesn't work. There's also a streaming app called Kanopy used for library stuff. I can't get that to work either.

Cannot play with error?

Don't follow that guide. You just need to boot (not flash) a patched boot image and then run direct install. This also creates backups of your stock images which you'll need when you OTA.

Hi, I am new in the rooting methods, not so sure what is direct install, have a guide how to root it right?

thanks!

Cannot play with error?

I only ever get this went attempting to play something on Disney+:

"Something went wrong. Please try again. If you continue to have issues, please visit our Help Center at help.disneyplus.com."

For what it's worth, it doesn't even include an error code (as it often does for other types of errors).

I have a feeling A12 and later is end of root.
Why should we see more and more rooted devices with A12 and later cannot work with Disney+ or similar apps?!

Nah... I'd suggest your feeling on this to be somewhat "Chicken Little"ish.

Don't get me wrong... it's completely annoying that so many apps are coded with kill switches triggered by any sign of root or root related settings and/or modifications. However, the cat and mouse game that is "apps detecting root and developers creating ways to avoid being detected" has been going on for years... and will continue to do so.

I suspect what sets these streaming apps apart from other apps which DO have working methods to evade root detection is their usage of DRM. If I understand things correctly, just an unlocked bootloader (without having root or any other modifications) can cause the DRM check to fail. And, hiding and unlocked bootloader from DRM is apparently difficult to impossible.

The part of this that I fail to get my head around is: Why do certain companies block app usage if root is detected, yet have no issue if I access the same content on my Linux box? Disney+ is a perfect example. 🤷‍♂️

I have YTTV, Netflix, Disney+ etc working successfully. Initially none of them were working while rooted. It takes some fairly big changes, but I thought I'd share.

Explanation:
Essentially, widevine needs to be set to L3 (lower quality as it's not protected). There is a module called liboemcryptodisabler that typically accomplishes this but it doesn't work for our device. Oneplus moved the library (liboemcrypto.so) to the "odm" partition which both the module and Magisk don't support. There is a fork of Magisk called Magisk Delta (by HuskyDG) that allows magic mounting of extra partitions, including "odm". I made some tiny and "hacky" changes to the module and now widevine shows as L3 and video apps work for me.

TL;DR
Use at your own risk, I'm not responsible for any damage, etc, etc.

  1. Magisk Delta - Required. I'm currently using delta-5. Zygisk and MagiskHide enabled and DenyList configured.
  2. Universal Safety Net Fix - Module. Needed to download the media apps from Play Store (and maybe other reasons). I'm currently using v2.4
  3. liboemcryptodisablerodm - My custom module attached here. Based on the original liboemcryptodisabler by ianmacd.

Thank you so much! I've been trying to figure this out since I first got the phone and rooted it. Everything works flawlessly with no issues.
Have tried with Disney+ and Crunchy roll.

Thanks! That did it!

I'll add the following from my experience as it might be helpful to others:

I was having some issues after installing Magisk Delta with things like Google Play Services Services crashing and other apps not working. With Magisk Delta, the integrated Magisk Hide feature works again like it did in the pre-version-24 days of Magisk. In other words, it appears that the Shamiko module is not needed. After disabling the Shamiko module and enabling "Magisk Hide", my issues were resolved.

Also, the Magisk Delta app is it's own app (not an update to Magisk). Before discovering that I needed to disable Shamiko, I ended up uninstalling the original Magisk app in an effort to fix things. Doing this didn't make much difference, but having 2 Magisk apps installed just seemed like a bad idea. I'm curious if others have both installed or not.
