How to prevent PO's line item from being deleted if there was an open invoice in SAP S4hana cloud.

Hi SAP,
1. An invoice was posted against a PO
2. The invoice was rejected BUT was not reversed (thus still showing up as open)
3. The PO line items that the invoice was posted against were then deleted
As a result, we were not able to reverse this invoice anymore.
Is there any enhancement or configuration available by which we could prevent this.
