X11 诞生三十周年

上周， X11 窗口系统迎来了三十岁生日，在 30 年后的今天，它仍然活着，通过 X.Org Server 服务于 Linux、BSD、Solaris 和其它操作系统。1987 年 9 月 15 日，MIT 的 Ralph Swick 宣布了 X Window System Version 11 Release 1。多年来，X11 扩展过多次，延长了寿命，但过去几年这个有 30 年历史的代码库发现了越来越多的 bug 和安全问题，Wayland 显示服务器预计将会未来接替 X.Org Server，但短时间内软件的兼容性会让 X 继续存在下去，尤其是 Wayland 目前只支持 Linux。
