TechInsights预计，到2028年，超过十分之一的智能手机将是折叠屏手机。翻盖式折叠屏（Flip foldable）设计在整个预测期内继续领先。2022年，三星领跑折叠屏手机市场，拥有近4/5的市场份额。苹果预计将在2025年向市场推出翻盖式折叠屏手机，这将加速该类产品的普及。2023年竞争加剧，谷歌和一加将加入三星、OPPO和摩托罗拉进入国际市场。
- 由于商品价格飙升和供应瓶颈挥之不去，预计全球消费价格通胀的持续时间将比此前预计的更长；
- 由于经济衰退，消费者的可用收入减少，折叠屏智能手机的高价格导致需求低迷。除非经济衰退结束和/或可折叠设备的价格大幅下降，否则需求很难在短期内回升；
- 一些经济体在2025年之前不太可能出现经济增长提速；
- 耐用性也仍在限制折叠屏智能手机的增长。除了翻盖式或向内折叠，涂层材料将需要进一步开发其他类型的设计。
