Dimensity 9000/8000 series processors soar MediaTek’s revenue by 33%

Among the smartphones released in the first half of this year, more manufacturers have choosing MediaTek’s new-generation Dimensity platform. Since the official launch of the Dimensity series, MediaTek has been doing quite well. For the first half of the year, the Dimensity 9000/8000 series were its main drivers. While the Dimensity 9000 has the lion’s share, the Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 have a good piece. Collectively, these chips are boosting MediaTek’s performance. Over the past five months, its revenue has increased by 33%.

According to the information released by MediaTek, its revenue in May was NT$ 52.076 billion, a decrease of 1% from April, but a year-on-year increase of 26.01%, and more than NT$ 50 billion for three consecutive months. It rose 33.07% to NT$ 247.4 billion, and there is no pressure to complete the Q2 quarterly target.

Manufacturers are cutting orders

However, the next June, the situation in the mobile phone market will be different. Due to various pressures such as inflation, mobile phone manufacturers have begun to adjust their inventories. The procurement of mobile phone components has been reduced. MediaTek’s June performance is not expected to look good. However, this is not a problem for certain manufacturers. Major mobile phone brands will be affected this year. Not long ago, there was even news that Samsung had suspended procurement, which has become a weather vane in the mobile phone market.

In the chip market, Qualcomm and Mediatek are direct competitors and it has been this way for years. While many brands appear to prefer Qualcomm for flagship processors, MediaTek seems to be better with mid-range and entry-level smartphones. However, since the advent of 5G, the Dimensity series has been galvanizing sales for the company. The performance of its latest flagship Dimensity 9000 is slightly better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Qualcomm had to release the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 early just to be ahead of MediaTek in the flagship market.
