You can no longer buy the iPod touch from Apple in the US

Apple's discontinued iPod touch is getting harder to find for sale.

Bye bye, iPod touch

Earlier this week, Apple announced that it is discontinuing the iPod touch for good. Now, you can no longer get your hands on one, at least not directly from the company, as it has completely exhausted its iPod touch inventory for its online store.

However, some retailers still have limited quantities in stock.

Apple sells out of iPod touch in the US

Apple announced the discontinuation of the iPod touch just a couple of days ago. Yesterday, we reported that certain configurations of the device were already sold out on the company’s online store in the US.

Less than 24 hours later, you can no longer buy the iPod touch in any storage or color from Apple as the remaining stock seems to have been completely exhausted. The product page is still there on Apple’s website, but it should only be a matter of time before it is also taken down.

The iPod went on to become an iconic device after first debuting in 2001. However, its sales started plummeting around the time smartphones started becoming popular.

Apple last refreshed the iPod touch in 2019. The seventh-gen model features a 4-inch Retina display, an A10 chip, and a Home button. With almost non-existent sales, it made sense for Apple to retire the lineup for good.

Amazon still selling some configurations of iPod touch

In case you want to buy an iPod touch to own a piece of history, you can check out Amazon or Best Buy as the retailers still have some configurations in stock. However, given the sudden rise in demand and limited stock, that’s unlikely to last for long. If you want one of the last iPods made, you should pull the trigger as soon as possible.

You can also try your luck at your nearest Apple retail store, but again be quick, because stocks could run out fast.

The good thing is that if you do end up getting your hands on an iPod touch, you’ll be able to enjoy three months of Apple TV+ subscription for free.
