iOS 15 was released on Monday for iPhone 6s and newer
Apple released the new version of iOS on Monday, and naturally, diehards rushed to install the operating system on their iPhones seconds after the company published the download links.
And this makes perfect sense. iOS 15 is a highly anticipated release, and it comes with massive improvements, including new notifications and a Focus mode that allows you to focus on the things that matter based on a set of user-defined rules.
But on the other hand, it looks like not everybody rushed to install iOS 15 on day one.
Statistics published by MIxpanel and put together by 9to5mac show that in the first 48 hours, 8.59 percent of the eligible devices were updated to iOS 15, while in the case of iOS 14, the numbers were nearly double. No less than 14.68 percent of the eligible devices installed iOS 14 in the first two days of availability.
iOS 15 available for iPhone 6s and newer
Apple’s new iOS 15 also introduces support for FaceTime calls that allow users on Windows and Android to also join using a web browser.
“FaceTime calls now extend beyond Apple devices, so people using an Android or Windows device can join from their web browser. FaceTime calls on the web remain end-to-end encrypted so privacy is not compromised. To initiate the call, iPhone, iPad, and Mac users simply create a FaceTime link and share it through Messages, Calendar, Mail, or third-party apps, making it easier than ever to connect with friends and family,” Apple explains.
Apple Maps is also getting a 3D navigation mode in iOS 15, but this feature is initially available for iPhone exclusively, with CarPlay to get it at a later time.
Needless to say, iOS 15 comes pre-installed on the iPhone 13, the new model whose shipping starts tomorrow.
