The preview build has been released in the Beta channel

Microsoft has officially released Windows 11 to Windows insiders enrolled in the Beta channel, and while this is seen by many as a sign we’re getting closer to the debut of the operating system, well, it’s not.

Windows 11 is projected to launch later this year, and Microsoft bringing it to the Beta channel is actually an important step for the development of the new OS.

This is because the Dev channel would be used for testing early features going forward, while the Beta channel would help Microsoft further refine the operating system before the public launch.

The Redmond-based software giant hasn’t provided an ETA as to when Windows 11 could get the go-ahead, but according to several discoveries, the first PCs could receive it as a free upgrade in the second half of October.

More stable versions in the Beta channel

Meanwhile, Microsoft says it continues to work with insiders, and the company hopes that the release of Windows 11 in the Beta channel helps more people send valuable feedback to help further polish the operating system before the big launch later this year.

“We are very excited to announce we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.100 to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel!” Microsoft announced a few hours ago.

“We highly recommend Insiders in the Beta Channel check out this blog post from June 28th that highlights all the new things in Windows 11 to check out and give us feedback on as you use it! As always, be sure to check out the list of known issues in the blog post below on anything that could impact your experience on your PC. We have also added a few new known issues discovered from Insiders in the Dev Channel since the release last week.”

Going forward, more stable versions of Windows 11 would only be part of the Beta channel, Microsoft says.
